Samsung Opens New Artificial Intelligence R&D Center in New York

In addition to the five R&D centers located in Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Russia, Samsung is set to launch its second US AI (Artificial Intelligence) R&D center in New York,  the Tech News reported on September 13. This new center is part of Samsung's USD 22 billion R&D plan announced in August this year for future technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G networking technology, and automotive electronic components. Located in Chelsea, New York City, this new center will focus on the development of AI dedicated for machinery applications. In addition, Samsung has vowed to expand up to 1,000 AI professionals by 2020 for its R&D centers worldwide. Meanwhile, Harman, acquired by Samsung in 2016, recently also announced that it has collaborate with Google to develop a next-generation AI speaker with a large display, due to be released in 2019.
